"Freedom has a taste, and for those that have fought for it, the taste is so sweet the protected will never know..."
General George Patton
Military honors and memorabilia are heirlooms that families can be proud of and cherish for generations. They represent the honor and respect bestowed upon not just an individual, but a family, for their contributions and commitment to serving our beloved country and putting their lives on the line to protect her ideals and preseve our way of life.
Creating a display case, whether for a burial flag, a single medal, a uniform or a collection of military honors and memorabilia is a simple process that results in a beautiful piece of history that's sure to be noticed and commented on for years. There are four simple steps, and USMilitaryStuff is here to help you with each one.
1). Make Sure Your Collection of Medals and Awards is Complete.
- Many of these items are often lost, missing, or damaged, and sometimes there are awards that were earned but never received. Review your DD Form 214 (that's a veterans discharge papers for you non-veterans) for a list of the honors and awards you should have. If you don't have your DD Form 214, you can request it clicking on the following link How to request military service records from the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO.
- Medals and awards, if lost or stolen, can be replaced free of charge (once) by the U.S. Government by clicking on this link, Replacement Medals & Awards. This process can take up to one year to actually receive your replacments. Also, the Government will not replace medals awarded by a foreign government such as the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, to name a couple.
- Medals and awards can be purchased from our website. They are 100% authentic, produced by the same American manufacturer that supplies our Armed Forces. Many of our customers purchase duplicate sets of their military honors so identical displays can be made for more than one family member.
2). Add Other Memorabilia If You Like.
- Photos, badges, patches, ribbons, challenge coins, even uniforms can be preserved and displayed. Many of these items (except uniforms) are available on our website. Military honor displays can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. Also, don't forget a personalized engraving plate as the perfect finishing touch.
3). Determine What Type And Size Display Case To Use
- American Military Honors deserve only the finest American-Made, handcrafted, heirloom-quality displays, the only kind we offer. We are proud of the fact that all our cases are handcrafted in America by SpartaCraft, Inc.. Their extremely talented craftsmen take great pride that their work will become a family heirloom to proudly honor the military service of one of America's heroes. In owning a genuine SpartaCraft display case your owning a peice of history. As the "Original" flag case company, years ago SpartaCraft was chosen by the U.S. Government to provide a case for the burial flag of heroes whose lives were lost while on active duty (only the best materials and craftsmanship would do). This is a role SpartaCraft still proudly plays today with it's Heritage Flag Case. Also, the SpartaCraft Presidential Flag Case was selected to preserve and display the burial flag of President Ronald Reagan.
- Our display cases range in size from a medal display case that displays a few medals to large cases that can display an entire military career to include uniforms. When determining the size of your display case, we urge you to make sure you get one large enough to display all your items. Usually one size larger then you think is safe. We'll be happy to help you select the perfect one.
